This commissioned family portrait depicts a couple celebrating their first King’s Day in the Netherlands. As South Africans building a life together in the Netherlands, they wanted to preserve this special chapter of their journey on canvas. From the detailed architecture, stylized crowds, textured clothing and wine glasses, each part of this painting creates the atmosphere and draws attention towards the couple in the centre. The original painting is acrylic on stretched 100% linen canvas with satin varnish (40 x 30 cm). The painting is based on a photo provided by the couple.
